The DTOM FOUNDATION FOOD CENTRE is a dedicated division of the Dr. Themba Oscar Makhubele Foundation, which was established in 2022 (Registration Number: 2025/531768/08). Our food centre is committed to combating malnutrition and promoting healthy living in underserved communities across South Africa. Named in honor of Dr. Themba Oscar Makhubele, a visionary leader dedicated to community health and development, this division focuses on creating sustainable solutions to food insecurity through education, empowerment, and direct intervention.
A South Africa where every individual, regardless of socioeconomic status, has access to nutritious food, proper healthcare, and the knowledge needed to lead healthy, productive lives. We envision communities that are self-sufficient, resilient, and thriving through sustainable food systems and nutrition education.
To combat malnutrition and promote healthy living through comprehensive nutrition education, sustainable food security initiatives, and community empowerment programs. We work to address the root causes of food insecurity while providing immediate nutritional support to vulnerable populations.

Establishing community gardens that provide fresh, organic vegetables to local families year-round. These gardens serve as educational hubs where community members learn sustainable farming practices, nutrition, and food preparation skills, creating long-term food security solutions.
The Dr. Themba Oscar Makhubele Foundation (Registration Number: 2025/531768/08) was established in 2022 with a deep commitment to addressing critical social issues in South African communities. The DTOM FOUNDATION FOOD CENTRE operates as a specialized division under this foundation, focusing specifically on malnutrition and food security. Inspired by the legacy of Dr. Themba Oscar Makhubele, who dedicated his life to improving community health and wellbeing, our food centre began operations with a clear focus on developing sustainable solutions to food insecurity. We recognize that malnutrition affects not only physical health but also cognitive development, educational outcomes, and economic productivity, creating a cycle of poverty that spans generations.
